Remember in the Keith Green book, where he calls for repentence, recalling how God said he "hated your festivals?" I think that is the gist of this passage - how a form of churchianity that is not focused on Jesus and repentance is just blowing smoke.
In case you don't read the above commentary, the most important part is when Psalm 51:16-17 is quoted:
For Thou dost not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; Thou art not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.
